Spring, summer and early fall in Taos mean fresh produce, flowers, free-range meats, sweet treats, locally made prepared foods and goods at the Taos Farmers Market every Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Taos Plaza from May 11 to Nov. 16. The Red Willow Farmers Market is held every Wednesday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Taos Pueblo behind Tony Reyna’s Indian Shop and before Taos Mountain Casino on Veterans Highway. With four greenhouses, everything is grown and harvested on the Red Willow Farm including lettuces, carrots, beans and so much more. Mizuna greens (a spicy letuce) are being introduced this year. This community based, community first market includes hot food and baked goods vendors, locally created dry mixes and meat rubs, jams, jellies, natural salts and the list goes on. Get there early. They typically sell out by noon.
